Arrivals push up net migration
Highlights
Visitor arrivals (175,700) were up 2 percent from July 2007 (173,000).
There were more visitors from Australia (up 1,200) and France (up 700), but fewer from China (down 900), Korea and Taiwan (both down 700).
New Zealand resident departures (202,200) were up 9 percent from July 2007 (185,500).
There were more trips by New Zealand residents to Australia (up 3,700), Fiji (up 1,800) and the United States (up 1,700).
Permanent and long-term arrivals exceeded departures by 800 on a seasonally adjusted basis.
