Food Price Index: March 2010

In March 2010 compared with February 2010:

• Food prices rose 0.2 percent.
• Meat, poultry, and fish prices rose 1.3 percent.
• Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.3 percent.
• Grocery food prices rose 0.2 percent.
• Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 0.5 percent.
• Fruit and vegetable prices fell 1.9 percent.

From March 2009 to March 2010:

• Food prices increased 0.3 percent, the lowest annual increase since the year to July 2004, when prices fell 0.1 percent.
