Meat and vegetable prices rise

Highlights

In March 2009 compared with February 2009:

  • Food prices rose 0.5 percent.
  • Meat, poultry and fish prices rose 1.4 percent.
  • Fruit and vegetable prices rose 1.6 percent.
  • Non-alcoholic beverages prices rose 0.8 percent.
  • Restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food prices rose 0.2 percent.
  • Grocery food prices fell 0.2 percent.

From March 2008 to March 2009:

  • Food prices increased 8.6 percent.
